Thank you for such an amazing experience of culture and art. Great food and a day reminding me that being Canadian means embracing our geography and heritage sites. Like icing on the cake, spreading ethnic food, ancient theatre and contemporary art and music generously over the surface have made the Alton Mill truly a special location to feel alive in our home.

...thanks for all your help on Saturday. The day turned out amazingly well, probably better than I'd even hoped. I got so many compliments for choosing Alton Mill as a location and it was wonderful that the weather held out enough for pictures outside. Please thank Rae (building superintendent) again for us too. He was so helpful and laid back which made things so much easier.

Congratulations on winning the Heritage Canada National Achievement Award!

I was very happy when Sally Drummond passed along the good news. This is a great honour and a wonderful endorsement of your vision for the Mill and your complete commitment to heritage conservation. I often think that it would be so encouraging if all property owners and developers shared your enthusiasm and fidelity for our wonderful heritage and perhaps with awards and national recognition such as this, for efforts such as yours, others will realize the merits of making the extra effort and also pick up the heritage conservancy mantle.

I would like to say that I’m glad we were able to help you along, but, in all honesty, as I quickly realized while writing the nomination some months ago, the Alton Mill project sells itself and all we had to really do was showcase your efforts.

Well done, Jeremy and I can’t wait to write the nomination for your work on the Mill Pond next!!

Cheers.

On behalf of the Rural Community Development Branch, I want to thank you ever so much for all the time, effort, detail and fun that you put into our branch visit to the beautiful Alton Mill.

Your presentation was great - the group was awestruck by the before, during and after details. They loved the Mill and it’s beauty and will be back often -to buy art work and one colleague is looking at taking painting lessons with a resident artist!

The entire branch was so impressed by the visit. Your time is valuable and I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to do this for us! I personally love to showcase your hard work and effort. Both yourself and Jordan have most certainly created a masterpiece - the Alton Mill.

See you soon at the mill!

Thanks so much for the fantastic tour you gave our classes. It was amazing and children were so impressed! I look forward to working with you even more next year as we plan some programs to bridge the school, the mill and the community. I’ll send photos from our trip.

Thanks again,

  • Thank you for giving us a tour around the Alton Mill. My favourite part was looking at the waterfall. You rock my socks!
  • Thank you so much for helping us learn more about our Alton Mill and letting us tour the most historical building in Alton. I loved all the coal from mining in the mills. Also I liked the bell that you got to ring and glass floor where we could see the river. I’m looking forward to coming back to the mill.
  • The tour of the Alton Mill was truly magnificent. I found the balloons so cool. I am even thinking of using it as a speech topic. Also, I hope the barrel doesn’t break and flood.
  • Thank you for the wonderful tour around the Alton Mill. It was great. My favourite part was the art gallery when we first walked in. My favourite art was the dog with its head in a hole. I like it because my dogs are my favourite animal, and the art piece is so cute.
  • Thank you so much for helping us learn more about our Alton Mill and for letting us tour the most historical building in Alton. I loved all the coal from mining in the mills room. I also liked the balloons and everything about what the mill used to be worked as. The best part as when we looked down the waterfall and when we stood on the glass floor. The oven was cool too. One question: is the Alton Mill haunted?
  • I’d like to thank you for giving us a tour from the Mill. I’m going to tell my dad and we’re going to come this summer.

I wish to “Thank You” once again for allowing me the opportunity to use your facility to host my 65th Birthday Party. The hanging of the art certainly was a great addition and the wonderful table provided a beautiful
backdrop for the food. The entire experience was without fault.

I have had nothing but “RAVE” comments on the party, the food, the entertainment and the ambiance of the Millrace Room. My guests were amazed with the Alton Mill, most not ever having been there. I’m certain they will be returning.

Sincerely,
John Wright

The Alton Mill was a terrific place to get married. The combination of old and new buildings, artisans with their art, and natural outdoor space was a great fit for our sensibilities. Our event was flawless due in large part to the excellent staff, grounds and location. I cannot recommend the AltonMill strongly enough, for any event, but especially a wedding.
