New Featured Artist in Noodle Gallery

1 min read

Darlene Monroe’s work is textured and moody. Somehow managing to evoke the feeling of darkness and brooding while still maintaining softness and bringing about sparks of brilliant light peaking through.  When gazing upon Darlene’s pieces one is reminded of Leonard Cohen’s well known lyric from his powerful song ‘Anthem’…
“There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.”

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I want my paintings to invite introspectiveness and storytelling.

Strikingly bold values and loosely placed textures are the foundation for my memory and imagination to create.

The power of light to convey mood and emotion is my greatest motivation
