Time is the substance from which I am made. Time is a river which carries me along, but I am the river; it is a tiger that devours me, but I am the tiger; it is a fire that consumes me, but I am the fire~ JorgeLuis Borges.
I don’t write to entertain; I write so that I can breathe.
I have been writing for the past 12 years.
My first novel In Full Uniform was published in 2006. It was a book I wish I didn’t have to write. It is based on the true-life story of a young boy that committed suicide after being tormented for years in the hallways and playgrounds of his school. He was 14 years old, and an only child.
I am also a freelance writer. I have written for various educational magazines, including Canadian Teacher Magazine , OLA/Access and Teacher-Librarian Magazine. I have also written for local publications, including Sideroads of Dufferin County and In the Hills Magazine .
I’m currently working on my second novel, tentatively titled, See Me After Class .
Nelson Algren, Jorge Luis Borges, Leonard Cohen, Richard Wright, Italo Calvino, Orhan Pamuk, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Selby Jr., Ray Bradbury, Oscar Wilde: I am continually humbled by their genius.
