By the age of three she was sewing and by grade 1, already making clothing. She would use her mother’s ‘Singer’ sewing machine to learn and create, loving every moment of it. Her passion, ambition and dedication to the craft created a burning desire to achieve her dream of becoming a dressmaker. Renowned Canadian fashion designer, Linda Lundstrom, brings her exquisite sense of design, impeccable style and enthusiasm for clothing to the Alton Mill Arts Center in the form of a Christmas pop-up shop!

Her pop-up shop, located beside Gallery Gemma on the main floor of the Mill, will be open from December 9th- December 31st and features beautiful coats, vests and luxurious shawl collars of genuine suede/fur. Lundstrom’s love for working with chic materials such as fur and leather is evident in the pieces she has handpicked to be in her shop. She is very inspired by the Japanese design aesthetic of “wabi-sabi” – celebrating imperfection and appreciating the integrity of natural objects and processes. Lundstrom preserves and uses all raw edges of leather, creating asymmetrical silhouettes allowing gravity take its course in draping the fabric naturally. Essentially, her garments become collaborations between herself and gravity; Lundstrom’s excellent finishing in combination with gravity’s spontaneity creates one-of-a-kind clothing/accessories that both men and women would love to own.

Lundstrom designs not to be perfect, but to be authentic. She loves to see people look at themselves in a different light when they put on her garments, a truly inspiring experience. Connecting with her customers through her design work at pop up shops is what excites and motivates Lundstrom to continue creating beautiful clothing!
