We all know to make a wish when we blow out the candles on our birthday cake. Wishing candles follow pretty much the same principle. Decorating a candle with specific symbols, words, coloured ribbon and other special tokens not only makes a unique gift idea but is a fun activity for welcoming the return of the Sun on the winter Solstice (December 21), the shortest day of the year. What better way to celebrate then by lighting your special candle, making a wish and visualizing it coming true, knowing that as the days begin getting longer again so too will your dreams grow.

Join resident Mill artist CJ Shelton in her magical nature-filled studio for this fun and informative workshop. While decorating your own wishing candle listen to stories about the First Light and learn how so many of our current Christmas customs have their origins in ancient cultural traditions. All ages welcome and all materials supplied. If you have taken this workshop previous years this season will have some added new elements!
