Winter Solstice Wishing Candles Workshop with CJ Shelton

In the season of magic why wish on a star when you can wish on a candle! Carving a candle with specific symbols, words, runes or ogham (an ancient symbolic language) is a powerful way to manifest your dreams and goals for the new year. Add some coloured ribbon, sparkle, twigs, feathers, rhinestones and other special tokens and this beautiful meditative activity becomes an ideal way to welcome the return of the Sun on the winter Solstice (December 21). You can then light your special candle on Solstice Eve, make a wish and visualize it coming true, knowing that as the days begin getting longer again so too will your dreams grow.

Join artist CJ Shelton in her magical nature-filled studio for this beautifully festive and creative workshop. While decorating your own wishing candle you will hear stories about the First Light and learn how so many of our current Christmas customs have their origins in ancient cultural traditions that honoured the cycles of Nature.
