Fashion Designer, Mixed-Media Artist

Hildegard Sausik is an accomplished fashion designer and textile artist whose career spans from high fashion runways to sustainable, nature-inspired wearable art. Her early success included winning several design competitions and launching two acclaimed fashion labels—Lalique Designs and the Hildegarde Collection—sold in leading Canadian department stores such as Creeds, Eatons, and Simpsons, as well as Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys, and Bloomingdale’s in the U.S.

Hildie’s elegant eveningwear has graced major stages, including the Miss Canada Pageant, and her work was featured in German Vogue following her participation in the Festival of Canadian Fashion. She was also an early contributor to Toronto’s Fashion Cares events, helping raise funds and awareness for AIDS research.

In recent years, Hildie has returned to her roots as a textile artist, creating eco-dyed wearable art using silks, cottons, and linens coloured with natural dyes derived from plants, flowers, and food waste. Guided by a zero-waste philosophy, she transforms reclaimed fabrics into one-of-a-kind garments that celebrate beauty, balance, and craftsmanship.
