Janet Simmons Sweet is a full-time, award-winning artist who has called the Alton Mill Arts Centre home since 2008. Working exclusively in oils, she blends high-quality pigments with walnut oil to create luminous works that capture emotion through light, colour, and atmosphere.
Deeply influenced by the Romantic and Impressionist periods—a passion sparked at the age of five—Janet infuses her landscapes with a sense of wonder and feeling. Her signature use of dramatic lighting and vibrant contrasts transforms simple scenes into expressive narratives.
