Karen Brown
Encaustic Artist
Karen Brown is an encaustic artist inspired by her deep connection to nature, creating both realistic and abstract works full of depth, luminosity, and movement. Working with beeswax-based paints on recycled and repurposed substrates, she embraces the medium’s unpredictability to craft pieces that are both visually and tactilely rich.
Mostly self-taught, with studies at Brock University, Sheridan College, and Mohawk College, Karen draws inspiration from outdoor experiences, photography, and sketches, bringing them into the studio to develop multilayered, dreamlike compositions. For Karen, each work is personal, reflecting her life, her vision, and her bond with the natural world.
