Karen Brown is a Canadian encaustic artist and the owner, artist and instructor behind The Hive Encaustic Studio. A creative space dedicated to encaustic painting, workshops, and artistic exploration.
Combining molten beeswax with photography, watercolour, pigment, and mixed media to create layered pieces with depth, texture, and quiet luminosity. Influenced by the natural world and the quiet rhythms of everyday experience, her paintings invite viewers to pause, reflect, and find meaning within ambiguity.
Recent bodies of work, including Kintsugi-inspired and The Power of Grey, have focused on resilience, transformation, and the value of perspectives beyond black-and-white thinking.
Karen is also the creator of The Encaustic Path, a reflection deck and journal series rooted in art, self-care, and creative practice. Through her studio, workshops, and original artwork, she invites visitors into the rich, tactile world of encaustic painting.
