Falls Gallery | Abstract Painting: powerful skies with lydia panart

This in-person one-day workshop will offer participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in the abstract realm. Artist Lydia Panart will go through the steps to create an abstract painting from an inspirational photograph to the final resolution.

Finding inspiration from powerful photographs of skies, Lydia will teach students to create an expressive abstract artwork. The goal is to loosen up and capture the dramatic and captivating visual characteristics of the selected image with gestural brushwork on a larger surface.

Emphasis will be placed on colour, value, contrast, transitions and the paint/media layering process using brushes and palette knives. Through visual explanations and supporting materials, Lydia will guide the class through the process with painting technique demonstrations and one-on-one feedback to enrich everyone’s experience.

A material list will be provided to registrants.

This workshop is suitable for beginners or for anyone with painting experience.
