"The Shapes of Our Life" Mandala Workshop

This workshop uses just five simple geometric shapes (a circle, square, triangle, cross, and spiral) to create a mandala with personal meaning. Starting with a simple “reading” to reveal where your energies are currently focused, you will work on a black background with coloured pencils to create your one-of-a-kind mandala. Your finished piece will be a personal touchstone, window, and mirror into your own inner process for the year ahead.
No artistic skills are needed to enjoy this process and create a beautiful design that is uniquely your own. All materials supplied.

Winter Birch Trees Watercolour Workshop

In this session, you will discover how to apply some tried-and-true fundamentals by exploring a few basic watercolour techniques, with a focus on specific ones such as wet-on-wet and masking fluid. A grove of birch trees in mid-winter is the perfect subject matter for learning how to create depth and perspective in your work.
Please note that this workshop is best suited to those with a bit of experience in watercolour. If you are new to watercolour, please check out CJ's Introduction to Watercolour session being offered in March.

Starting Right an Introduction to Acrylic Painting
Studio 206 | Acrylic Painting with CJ sheltonLearn the basics of acrylic painting in a supportive small group environment.
This introductory session will help you get off to a great start, whether you are brand new to painting or have been doing “paint parties” and now want to get serious about building your skills. You will create a still-life composition (approximately 8” x 10”) in the tradition of the old masters to help you learn many of the basics needed to tackle other subject matter. Artist CJ Shelton will also review basic materials, so you leave knowing exactly which paint and brushes to purchase and get you set up right.
This workshop is the perfect foundation for CJ Shelton’s ongoing acrylic painting workshop.

All About the Basics
Studio 216 | The hive Encaustic Studio with Karen BrownThis Hands-on comprehensive 3 hour workshop will cover basic encaustic safety and general information. Learn to mix your own medium and paint palette. Participants will be able to experiment with techniques such as glazing, sculpting, fusing, photo transfers, collage, stencilling, and stamping. Participants will take home an Introduction to Encaustic Painting Booklet and multiple practice boards.
All electrical equipment, wax and supplies are provided. NO previous painting experience necessary.

Inner Landscapes Watercolour & Collage
Studio 206 | Watercolour & Collage With cj sheltonIntuitively visualize your inner realms of creativity and soul.
This workshop is an opportunity to spend time exploring the combination of watercolour and collage as you tap into nature’s early-spring energies. First, you will create wet-on-wet backgrounds, then intuitively add a variety of different art materials such as ink, acrylics, torn paper, photographic images, fabric, textured items, words, etc. This process will both enhance and tease out the “inner landscapes” hidden within the watercolour backgrounds as you respond to them in ways that are personally meaningful and revealing.
No artistic skill is required, just a willingness to play.

Introduction to Watercolour
studio 206 | Watercolour with cj sheltonIf you have always wanted to know the basics of painting with watercolours, this workshop is the ideal starting point. You will learn about different brushes, paints and papers, the colours you need to set up your palette correctly, a bit of colour-mixing and theory, plus a few foundational watercolour techniques such as washes, glazing, wet-on-wet and more. After a bit of practice and play, we will use these techniques to create some simple spring landscapes of hills, trees and water.
This session is perfect for new artists or those new to watercolour.

Enjoy this magical session of carving and decorating your own special candle with specific symbols, words and other tokens that will invoke positive energies for the new year ahead. This is a lovely festive activity for reconnecting to a sacred time of year in a whole new way.
As many have already discovered, it may just become a new holiday tradition – your own miniature sacred fire to light on Solstice Eve!

Step into a meaningful exploration of connection, community, and renewal. Become kin with your local watershed community as Becky guides you through her vision of The Kinship Way—a powerful weaving of teachings, stories, and sacred steps designed to help us walk in deeper relation with the land and one another.
First launched in July 2025 at the Kindred Spirits World Peace Gathering in Ireland—a circle of hearts, a ceremony of nations, and a rising of kinship—this offering is more than a program. It’s a remembering.
During this experience, you’ll draw your clan designation from the playful “Sorting Hat” and learn how The Kinship Way continues to grow and inspire communities.

The Corn Wisdom Way
Experience an Artist Immersion with Chandra Maracle
Discover the rich world of corn culture with Chandra, who will share teachings about corn, its deep significance, and its connection to food sovereignty. Participants will enjoy a hands-on experience using a traditional giant mortar and pestle to help process corn, followed by a taste of traditional cornbread inspired by Chandra’s own practices.
Please bring a water bottle and anything else you need to stay comfortable during the session.
Chandra is the co-founder of Skaronhyase’ko:wa Tyohterakentko:wa tsi Yontaweya’tahkwa / The Everlasting Tree School at Six Nations of the Grand River, where she helped establish the school’s nutrition program. She has contributed to the Healthy Roots initiative and co-developed the Haudenosaunee Food Guide for the Community Challenge. Through Kakhwa’on:we / Real People Eat Real Food, she explores the connections between people, food, mothering, art, language, technology, and land. A graduate of an adult Mohawk language immersion program, Chandra is currently a PhD candidate at York University in Environmental & Urban Change, researching Haudenosaunee foodways and nourishment for postpartum women and families.

Immerse yourself in a gentle, hands-on creative experience with artist Bree Leggett. Sip Peace Tea, weave your stories into community looms, and contribute your colours and fabrics to Watershed Ways, inspired by the spirit of the Two Row Wampum.
Bree will be joined by her daughter—her “water”—Sh’aura Leggett, who will offer henna in honour of lineage, connection, and the flow between generations.
Together, you’ll:
• Share personal shed stories and weave them into live looms
• Add to the collaborative artwork Watershed Ways
• Write messages to Shaw’s Creek using the “Water Way” bowl
• Contribute to offerings that will return to the creek during the closing celebration
