For your Valentine's shopping pleasure you will find Gallery Gemma Jewellery, Made of Wood Gallery and select artists' studios open all week long.
As always, with all its beautiful history, art and ambience, the Alton Mill is the perfect place to visit with your loved ones this Valentine's season! Enjoy great food at the Gournamdissimo cafe, shop for one-of-a-kind items in our galleries, explore the grounds by taking a walk by the Shaw's Creek and discover our sculpture garden
Here are some of the activities/special offerings by our Mill artisans:
Gourmandissimo Cafe: delicious and decadent Valentine's Day chocolates. Open daily Wed-Sun. 10am - 5pm.
Linda Augustin: specializes in unique home decor and acrylic art. Her studio will be open on Feb. 13th & 14th and she will have some fabulous Valentine's Day themed artwork available for purchase.
CJ Shelton: sign up for her workshop "Colour Me Red" taking place on Feb. 11th from 1pm - 3pm ($45/person). Gift your beautiful self or your sweetie this Valentine’s with immersion in the colour red. Indulge your senses and your spirit by joining artist CJ Shelton in her nurturing, nature-filled studio for some creative ‘red-time’ during the heart of our white winter.
Red is the colour of the earth’s life force deep lying dormant beneath the snow. It may be cold outside but in the calm environment of CJ’s studio you can warm your soul and incubate your dreams. You will enjoy a short meditation for inspiration, then let your inner child come out to colour or create a glorious mandala.
This is an expressive arts experience so no artistic training or ability is necessary. Just come and have fun! Loads of art materials will be supplied so that you can really let loose to express your creativity anyway you like. This is a great introduction to the mandala art form as CJ will gently guide you in some of the basics of free-form circular design making – a big creative step up from the traditional “adult” colouring books. If you can colour, you can do it!
