Doors Open gives you access to significant buildings across the region. Drop in, say hello, and take a tour to learn about the Alton Mill's fascinating history and current artistic and cultural life.
Guelph-based stoneworker Doug E. Bell will offer a 45-minute tour of the mill to point out traditional stone masonry, architectural features and elements, concluding with a hands-on opportunity for participants to use traditional stone masonry tools. Doug’s tours will run both days at 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. Donation appreciated for Doug's time.
Self-guided tours will take place all weekend from 10am-3pm.
Check out the open studios of Alton Mill artists displaying their work and offering demonstrations. Try your hands at Andrea Bird's "Give it a Whirl" encaustic painting session in the Hive (studio 201) or join writer Anthony Carnovale, who will help you unlock your story through fun and creative activities (studio 203).
