It’s officially spring on March 21 and who better to welcome it in but an exuberant and friendly little chickadee in its dapper suit of black and grey.

In this workshop you will spend a delightful afternoon learning to paint an adorable chickadee or two. Whether you are new to watercolour or already have some experience, you will learn how to draw a basic bird form (it’s actually quite easy), add colour, details and a branch for the bird to sit on, and set it all against a soft background wash to create a lovely spring vignette.

Beginners and advanced students alike will learn or hone various traditional watercolour techniques such as washes, wet-in-wet, glazing, dry brush and more. All materials will be supplied but more experienced students are encouraged to bring their own paints and brushes.

You will leave the workshop with at least one or more small paintings suitable for framing.
