Alton Mill Arts Centre is thrilled to have Actor/storyteller Jay Wilson bring local history to life. JayWalking Tours feature unusual tales, told where they happened.
“It starts with great text”, says Jay. “As an actor, a story well written is a story worth telling, and good stories, well told, make for highly entertaining walking tours. By reciting the story as it is written, the audience is transported back in time. These tours have been described as moving theatrical journeys.”
To kick off the walking tours, 15 minute “teaser tours” will be offered in July as part of the Heritage Days celebrations. The teaser tour will feature “The Flood of 1889”, “A Thrilling Experience”, “The Naming of Alton” and a short story about a meteor! Then in the fall, The Arts Centre will feature 90 minute tours where we will visit the village as well as tour the mill, bringing local history from the Village of Alton to life.
The 15 minute tours are free. They take place at the Arts Centre at various times throughout the day.
