Trees resonate on a very deep level as individual beings that, just like us humans, have their own personalities and distinct characteristics. They are the perfect subject matter for discovering the beautiful fluid medium of watercolour, even if you have never used it before.

This fun session will let you learn different ways to create a tree “portrait”, whether it is a big oak or maple tree or a classic windswept Group of Seven pine tree. You will discover how it is the overall shape of a tree that makes it distinct and identifiable as well as how to look for subtler qualities that make each tree unique. We will be working primarily from photos but also taking a short meander outside to visit some real trees for inspiration.

Suitable for both newbies and more advanced this session will have you learning traditional techniques such as wet-in-wet, scumbling, blotting, sponging, splattering and more to capture the personalities of both real and imaginary “tree-folk”.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Contact CJ at 519-942-2018 or email artist@dancingmoondesigns.ca
COST:  $90 + HST per person
