Making small pen & ink drawings and watercolour sketches of the natural world was a gentle timeless art practiced by Edwardian and Victorian ladies in their leisure time. Why not take a page from their books? You too can discover the joy of sketching ‘plein air’ (outdoors) and creating little studies of flowers, birds and rural landscapes. It’s a creative and relaxing way to enjoy our Ontario spring and summer!
In this workshop spend a lovely calm afternoon with artist CJ Shelton as she starts each session in her studio introducing you to a few simple basics of watercolour technique. Next move outdoors (weather permitting) into the beautiful natural environment of the Alton Mill’s tranquil pond and raceway waterfall to choose some subject matter to experiment with. Then create your own little masterpiece from direct observation under CJ’s gentle guidance. You never know ... you may just be inspired to start your very own ‘country diary of a 21st century Lady’!
This is an introductory workshop. While already having drawing or painting experience is helpful newbies are more than welcome. CJ is offering three opportunities to try your hand at this pastoral past-time. Take any one session or sign up for all three!
