Why wish on a star when you can wish on a candle! We all know to make a wish when we blow out the candles on our birthday cake. Wishing candles follow pretty much the same principle. Decorating a candle with specific symbols, words, coloured ribbon and other special tokens not only makes a unique gift idea but is a fun activity for welcoming the return of the Sun on the winter Solstice (December 21), the shortest day of the year. What better way to celebrate then by lighting your special candle, making a wish and visualizing it coming true, knowing that as the days begin getting longer again so too will your dreams grow.
Join artist CJ Shelton in her magical nature-filled studio for this fun and informative workshop. While decorating your own wishing candle listen to stories about the First Light and learn how so many of our current Christmas customs have their origins in ancient cultural traditions that honoured the cycles of Nature. All ages welcome.
